Statement of Intent
After my BA studies I intend to assist photographers to widen my knowledge of; working with clients, technical equipment, different genres of commercial photography. I hope to learn about how the photographers businesses work and are run, as well as aspects that work and aspects that don’t. Meanwhile I hope to develop my own work to keep learning and improving my skill set.
After hopefully working with serval photographers in the commercial industry I hope to gradually gain commercial work, I understand this will not happen straight away. A factor that has led to these decisions was work experience in a commercial studio during my A-levels, this gave me a massive insight into an aspect of photography I hadn’t delved into before.This commercial studio undertakes a variety of different commissions, with different genres; clothing, set design, food and still life/products. In this studio I was taught about lighting, in most genres, technical equipment, working with clients and briefly into the post production side. I am open to widening my knowledge in all different commercial genres as I believe working in all different genres will be very helpful to my skills and understanding of photography as a whole, which I hope will help to influence my personal work.
If I were to build a business in commercial photography and it failed, I would have to think about were my priorities lied. At this moment in time I think I would just have to look into getting a full time job, while trying to rebuild the business, or if that wasn’t working I would think about going down different avenues.
